GRAND FORKS, N.D. – The Wheat City Whiskey Jacks lose their fourth straight game, falling 4-2 to the Souris Valley Sabre Dogs. Pitcher Kyle Bratset (2-1, 3.49 ERA) collected the win for the Sabre Dogs, going six shutout innings on three hits, walking one batter and striking out seven. Sabre Dogs pitcher Aaron Suval (0-1, 10.02 ERA) collected his first save of the year on 1.2 shutout innings pitched with three strikeouts.
Whiskey Jacks pitcher Gene Aberouette (4-1, 2.48 ERA) collected his first loss of the season. Aberouette went 6.2 innings on four runs allowed (three earned), four hits, season-high nine walks, striking out four batters. Pitcher Will Hlady (1-1, 4.42 ERA) pitched 2.1 innings in relief, walking one batter and striking out one.
Sabre Dogs designated hitter Dalton Bowling, first baseman Ethan Moore, and left fielder Allen Grier extended their hitting streaks to three games, all collecting one hit a piece in Friday’s game. Bowling finished 1-for-4 and Moore & Grier finished 1-for-5. Moore drove in one run, his 30th RBI of the season. Third baseman Steven Moretto and catcher Taylor Justus both collected a hit. Whiskey Jacks designated hitter Caleb McDowell went 2-for-4 in Friday’s game. Shortstop Trey Guajardo, first baseman Jake Hjelle, right fielder Houston Fogelstrom, and second baseman Garrett Olson all collected one hit a piece.
The Whiskey Jacks (16-21) begin a six-game road trip Saturday in Minot to once again face the Sabre Dogs (26-13). First pitch is 7:05 p.m. at Corbett Field in Minot.
