Date: Mar 10, 2021
Andy’s passion for coaching hockey began as a teenager in 1996 and he has remained heavily involved as a student and teacher of the game ever since. He has worked as both a parent and non-parent coach at competitive levels from Novice to Minor Midget in Ottawa’s west end with the Stittsville and Kanata Minor Hockey Associations, along with having significant experience as a parent coach; most recently as the Head Coach of Tier I Girls Hockey teams in Kanata three of the past four seasons.
Andy instills high-performance habits necessary for success at the highest levels of life and sport. With a total commitment to skill development, work ethic, tempo and tactics, his teams have captured league, playoff, and tournament championships. However, most notable is his passion to teach a team-first attitude, based on a shared commitment amongst his coaching staff and players to improve every day.
Professionally, he has worked for the Ottawa Senators organization for 19 years, including the past eight seasons as Director of Hockey Programs with the Sensplex facilities. Andy is responsible for hockey programs and events for tens of thousands of minor hockey players annually. In this role, he works as a coach, scout & talent evaluator, and instructor. He also leads a large team of hockey program professionals.
Through effective planning, communication, and professional-level execution, he looks forward to working with his team of assistant coaches to set and deliver an exceptional year for all 17 players and families of the Major Peewee Myers Automotive AAA Hockey Club.
