Covid-19 - NESHL Announcement

Date:  Source: New England Senior Hockey League (NESHL)

April 19, 2020

At this time NESHL has suspended all games & clinics beginning Sunday March 15th, due to the Covid-19 virus, and per the Governor's Executive order to shut down the rinks.  We remain hopeful for a reopening of rinks and our league in mid-May.  We all know this is a fluid situation and that things may change.

Spring/Summer season- We hope to run a summer season, when circumstances allow us to do so safely and within the law.  We hope to begin that season in mid-May - if rinks are allowed to reopen by/near that date.  If it becomes clear there will be additional delays, we will likely shorten both the length and cost of the spring/summer season, as necessary.  As we all know, there is a lot of uncertainty right now, particularly with respect to the timeline. We've extended the Early Pay Discount deadline from April 15th to May 15th, to give teams registering a bit more time to get their full payment together for that discounted rate. We have decided not to run any Clinics or Drafts this season, due to the numbers involved in close contact for both the Clinics themselves and the Draft Night Events (25-50 people on the ice at once and 1 on 1 training with the coaches).

Fall/Winter season - As you know, this was cut short, and while we initially intended to get those games in later in April, that is clearly not going to happen now.  Therefore we have issued league credits to teams, as appropriate. We cannot issue refunds to any team or player at this time.  Team credits' will be for the team as an entity, not any individual player(s).  We're also offering a $25 credit towards the next season for the CLINIC registrants, who missed their final session.

NESHL has been running hockey leagues for 40 years and we hope to be up and running again as soon as it is possible/safe to do so, and we truly hope you will join us when that happens.

Thank you for your understanding as we all navigate these challenging times. Please be safe!
