The newest team in the Prospect League lineup, the Hannibal Hoots, have named a field manager for their inaugural campaign. Clayton Hicks was announced as the club's first skipper earlier this week by general manager Matt Stembridge.

Hicks is a Prospect League alumnus and no stranger to being involved with a team's first season, having played for the Terre Haute REX in their inaugural season in 2010.

Hicks pitched collegiately at Quincy University and is currently an assistant coach at Danville Area Community College, both programs share stadiums with Prospect League teams.

"The summer ball season was one of the biggest learning times of my playing career, and hopefully I continue that with coaching," said Hicks. "I've never been a head coach, but I've been around the game. There will probably be a learning curve at first, but I know I have two guys I can contact at a moment's notice."

Hicks added that he plans to exhaust all resources to recruit top talent to play at Clemens Field.
