How it Happened
Nick Dombkowski (Hartford) pitched 3.0 perfect innings in relief for the Dawgs with two strikeouts. Joe Jumonville (Northern Ill) was the lone Wachusett batter to have multiple hits on the evening, with a 2 for 4 performance.
The Dirt Dawgs got on the board early, as Jack Gethings (Fairfield) led off the game with a walk, before reaching third on a stolen base and a throwing error. Gethings would cross the plate for the first run of the game, as Bradley Wood (Northern Ill) lifted a sacrifice fly to right field.
Bristol took the lead in the home half of the fifth inning as Logan Greene (UMass Amherst) doubled home both Alex Loparco (Western New England) and Max Goione (Siena). The Blues added an insurance run in the bottom of the sixth inning, as Jayson Gonzalez (Vanderbilt) doubled home a run making it 3-1 Bristol.
The Dirt Dawgs threatened in the top of the eighth, as Zack Tower (Franklin Pierce) put a charge in the ball, driving it to deep centerfield, but Chris Davis (Princeton) crashed into the wall, robbing Tower of extra bases.
