PITTSFIELD, Mass. –  For the second time this season, the Wachusett Dirt Dawgs us a late rally to defeat the hosting Pittsfield Suns, this time to a 8-5 score at Wahconah Park Friday night, in a Western Division matchup.

How it Happened

Mike Coggeshall (Assumption) went 3 for 3 including two homeruns for three RBIs on the evening. Nick Dombkowski (Hartford) came in to pitch for the Dawgs, pitching 2.1 perfect innings, with five strikeouts.

Coggeshall got the scoring started in the top of the first, as he hit his first homerun of the game, giving Wachusett the early 2-0 advantage. After the Suns picked up a run in the bottom of the second, Coggeshall struck again in the top of the third, going long for the second time in the game.

Pittsfield would take the lead with RBI singles in the third, fourth and sixth inning, to take the 5-3 lead. In the top of the ninth, the Dirt Dawgs took the lead, by scoring five runs in the frame to give them the 8-5 advantage.

In the bottom half of the ninth, Mike Demarest (Adephi) picked up his first save of the season, with a perfect inning.

After a day off on Saturday, the Dirt Dawgs will wrap up the regular season on Sunday as they travel to Bristol to take on the Blues, with first pitch coming at 6:00pm.
