The Basics
Score: North Shore Navigators 5, Wachusett Dirt Dawgs 0
Records: Dirt Dawgs (18-13) | Navigators (12-11)
How it Happened
Jeff Korte (Eastern Florida) was the lone Dirt Dawg with an extra base hit. On the mound for Wachusett, Jonathan Gegetskas (Westfield State) got the start, going 5.0 innings allowing just two hits with five strikeouts.
North Shore got on the board in the bottom of the first inning, as Joey Pena (STAC) scored on a wild pitch. The Navigators added a run in the third inning as another runner scored on a wild pitch.
Gegetskas got out of a major jam in the home half of the fifth inning, as he had the bases loaded with just one out. He proceed to induce a fly ball to shallow right field, before getting a fielder's choice to end the inning. The Dirt Dawgs threatened in the top of the seventh inning, as they had two runners in scoring position, but could not capitalize and stranded both runners.
In the bottom of the eighth, the Navigators added two more runs as insurance, but Wachusett could not overcome the deficit in the top of the ninth.
