Atwater swept the doubleheader against the Bees, by scores of 6-2 and 20-3.

 

Game 1

On the Mound-

Drew Stahl (Modesto JC) started for Atwater as he completed 6 innings and gave up 2 runs (1 earned). Stahl struck out 4 but walked 5 Bees. Matt Thomas (Trinity University) was able to come in with runners on first and third and get a strikeout to end the Bees' threat. Thomas earned the win for this game. 

 

Gabe Rojas threw 5 innings for California and surrendered 2 runs (1 earned) on 4 hits. 

 

Game Summary-

The offense was led by Victor Tiscareno (Merced College) who went 2-5 with 2 RBI and a run scored. Jackson Martin (Henderson State) and Alex Pallios (Merced College) both had an RBI apiece.

 

Win: Matt Thomas (3-3)    Loss: Brendan Sweany (1-5)

 

Game 2

On the Mound-

Nate McGhee (Merced College) gave the Aviators a go with 5 innings and 3 runs (2 earned) given up. Tanner Browning (Missouri Western State) and Jesus Duran combined for 2 shutout innings in relief. 

 

Game Summary-

Atwater had an explosive game at the plate. Victor Tiscareno (Merced College) was 3-5 with a walk, 4 RBI and 2 runs. Pete Bizzini (Sonoma State) and Tanner Browning (Missouri Western State) each scored 3 runs for the Aviators.

 

Win: Nate McGhee (2-0)    Loss: Ryan Moeller (0-2)

 

What's next: Atwater will play two more against the Bees on Tuesday, July 11. The first game on Tuesday is slated to begin at 3 pm.
