Flyers name Derek Levanen new head coach/GM
SIOUX LOOKOUT, Ont. – The Sioux Lookout Flyers are pleased to introduce Derek Levanen as the new head coach and general manager for the 2012-13 season.
His knowledge of the game along with his skills and experience makes him a perfect fit for the Flyers. He both played and coached in the SIJHL which gives him a very unique perspective of the area and its players.
Levanen and his staff have already begun recruiting players for next season. He also understands our desire to recruit and develop local and regional players.
Levanan will bring a highly motivated staff on board to run skilled, high tempo practices to help the players reach there fullest potential.
“It’s all about the players,” said the new Flyers’coach/GM.
“I want to develop them into better hockey players, but more importantly into young men that will succeed in life after hockey,” added Levanen.
Among his accomplishments as a player was being part of the 2006 Thunder Bay Bombers squad that captured an Allan Cup Canadian senior hockey crown.
The Flyers look forward to the upcoming season and welcome the new coach/GM to the community.
