Matadors Set Tryout Dates
Date: Aug 12, 2022

The CSUN Ice Hockey Club will begin expansion of their locker room this summer. The team began considering a possible expansion last year, but the results of the tryouts this past weekend heavily influenced the decision to move forward with the project. Coach JP Gale said, "I think we've acquired another 110 square feet of space, which isn't a huge amount, but we've been known to do a lot with a little. We had a fantastic turnout at tryouts, with more depth and talent than we've ever had. We will make commitment announcements in the next few weeks, but based on the numbers out there this weekend we are planning on carrying 25 or 26 players next year and it's critical to our team's philosophy and culture that everyone have a spot in the room."
The current locker room holds 22 player stalls. With the planned expansion the Matadors will be adding 3-4 more player stalls, coaches stalls, added storage and a dedicated skate sharpening counter. The team already has some fundraising planning going forward that will require volunteer work from players, friends and families in May.
