Port Huron, MI - Trevor Karasiewicz went on a hunch that his number two goalie Dan McWhinney would get a deciding game three victory for the Prowlers and his hunch was not wrong. McWhinney would make 36 saves and combined with Dustin Skinner's hat trick the Port Huron Prowlers win game three 6-3, and they will take on the Danbury Titans for the Commissioner's Cup.
Danville started game three just like they did in game two getting the first goal of the game from Derrick Schwartz to make it 1-0 Danville. Danville would control much of the puck in the first period throwing ten shots at the net to the Prowlers 7 and that's how the first period would end. Danville up 1-0.
Second period was a goal scoring affair as there were five goals scored in the final ten minutes of the 2nd period. Chris Leveille would score receiving a pass from Len Pelletier to tie the game at one, midway through the second period. Danville would answer right back 1:03 later from Ray Tremblay as he put Danville back on top 2-1. 59 seconds later Justin Alonzo would score his second goal of the series tying the game 2-2. Danville would again regain the lead 42 seconds later on a goal from Jonathon Juliano also scoring his second goal of the series. With a 1:02 left to go in the middle frame Jack Callahan would fire a wrister that hit the Skate Blade of Dustin Skinner, finding a way past Matt Anthony to tie the game back up 3-3. That's how the middle frame would end, tied at three going into the second intermission.
Third period was all Prowlers, as they would hammer the net with 17 shots. 1:02 into the final frame Dustin Skinner would pick up right where he left off in the second, scoring the go-ahead goal to put the Prowlers on top 4-3 in the early stages of the third. With a 1:51 left in the game and a 1-goal deficit, Danville got exactly what they needed, a power play. Jared Hicks would be called for elbowing giving Danville the man Advantage for the rest of the third period. It turned out to be a blessing in disguise as Matt Fuller, on a face-off win dumped the puck down the ice which banked fast enough off the boards for Dustin Skinner to cash in an empty net goal to finish his hat trick, and put the Prowlers up two with under a minute left to go. A Matt Fuller empty netter would register as time expired and the Port Huron Prowlers advance to the Commissioner's Cup final against the Danbury Titans. Game 1 is still yet to be scheduled.
