If the World Cup was not exciting enough, Wichita will also be hosting the World Soccer 5 tournament the same day as the World Cup.  On March 22nd and 23rd, Hartman Arena will be hosting the Kansas state tournament for World Soccer 5.

World Soccer 5’s tournament is a multi-state tournament, where top amateur players compete on a five man team, to represent the United States in the F5WC World Finals.  Winners from state level will be sent, all-expense paid, to play in the national tournament in Chicago, IL.  From there, the winners of the National Tournament will then be sent, all-expense paid, to the World Tournament which will be held in Dubai, UAE.

During the tournament, registered teams will receive tickets to watch the WMF Arena Soccer World Cup.  Four International teams will compete right here in Wichita.  Those four teams include: Germany, Mexico, Romania, and India.

“I look forward to this tournament and growing the Kansas tournament here in Wichita.  I know we have many players that play in leagues indoor and outdoor that have a chance of winning the tournament here and representing Kansas and even more importantly, the city of Wichita,” Joey Pindell, owner and president of Wichita’s Professional Indoor Soccer Team, the Wichita B-52s.

16 teams will compete in group play. The best team from each group will then go on to bracket play.  This should provide a great opportunity for those that play soccer here in Wichita and the state of Kansas.

“Right now we are looking at having a minimum of 16 teams but this is opened to the State of Kansas and its surrounding states.  If we need to increase the tournament size then that would a great problem to have as we are scheduled for 16 teams.  I hear teams are traveling across the country to better their chances but at the end of the day I hope a team from Wichita goes on to Chicago.”

Registration is $400 per team which includes:

• World 5 Soccer Team Jersey (worn during tournament)

• Guaranteed 3 soccer games

• 7 Tickets to both World Cup Days (one for each teammate)
