The New York Bobcats snapped its two-game losing streak with a 4-1 win over New York Applecore on Saturday afternoon at the Twin Rinks at Eisenhower Park in Eastern Hockey League action.
Tyler Peters led the way with three points, while goalie Brandon Rathwell stopped 19 of 20 shots in the victory.
Applecore jumped out to a 1-0 lead halfway thru the first period, when Pontus Palmborg found the loose puck down low and slid it under Rathwell for his seventh of the season.
The Bobcats were able to get that back 1:31 into the second frame on Ian Harris’ sixth of the year. Harris skated into the Applecore zone and wristed the puck over goalie Blake Wojtala’s glove to tie the game at 1-1. Peters would then score his first of the game later in the period to put the Bobcats up 2-1.
Carlos Ross then gave the Bobcats a 3-1 lead after his backhand beat Wojtala for his fifth of the campaign. Peters added the late empty netter to seal the 4-1 victory for the Bobcats.
Ross and CJ Totillo chipped in offensively with two points.
Rathwell picked up his sixth win of the season in net for the Bobcats.
With the win, the Bobcats move to 11-7-1-1 on the season and are currently in 3rd place in the EHL Central Division with 24 points.
The Bobcats are home this weekend, and will take on the Northern Cyclones and New Hampshire Jr. Monarchs, Saturday and Sunday, respectively.
