The Potomac Patriots took 6 of 8 points from the Hampton Whalers this weekend, however the one loss was quite the wake up call for the Elite squad.  Highlights from the three wins below:

The first win of the weekend came for the Elite team.  6 different goal scorers (Malts, Gray, Walsh, Gerke, Melice, Gladt) would help the Pats take the 6-4 win.  Melice, Turchenik, and Crilly would each also add 2 assists, while Addison, Walsh, Gray, and Carr would each have one assist each.  Dustyn Moyer got the win stopping 38 of 42 shots.  

The second win of the weekend would come in the form of a 6-2 effort from the Empire team.  Skating with just 13 players, the team's goals were scored by Mikhail Zaytsev (2), Nick Kaufman, Matt Kassab, Jason Guidi, and James Watier.  Aleks Stroud and Jordan Graves each had three assists, John Delaney added a pair of helpers, and Josh Musty, Micah Dabao, Zack Davis, and Matt Kassab each had one assist.  Brian Parsons stopped 40 of 42 shots in the win.  

The Empire boys would finish off the weekend with another win, this time sneaking past with the 3-2 victory thanks to a third period game winning goal from Noah Cunniff with less than nine minutes left.  Nick Kaufman and Jason Guidi both added a goal while Josh Musty, Noah Morning, and James Watier each had an assist.  John Delaney had three assists (totaling five on the weekend) in addition to a huge shot block with less than twenty seconds left in the game.  Brian Parsons was once again good in net, stopping 25 of 27 in the win.  

The feel good story of the weekend was obviosuly the Empire team.  Skating with just 13 skaters and picking up all 4 points is great, but to also have each skater on the team pick up at least one point in the effort... that shows a group of guys all coming together to battle adversity, to send a message, and to come out victorious.  Congratualtions to the Empire P-Pats for showing what this game is all about.
