Quad City downs Allen in overtime, 2-1 (OT)

Jim McKenzie gave the Quad City Mallards a 2-1 (OT) victory over the Allen Americans when he scored 6:47 into the extra period.

With the win, Quad City evened the series at 2-2 in the best of seven showdown.

The Mallards' Thomas Heemskerk was a brick wall in net, as he came up with 30 saves and let only one puck past him. Heemskerk certainly lowered his goals against average, which was 1.56 entering the contest.

Quad City was paced by McKenzie, who tallied one goal.

The Mallards' offense rang up 33 shots on Allen's net.

Quad City also got points from Jordan Mayer, who also had one goal and one assist to lead the team in points. Other players who recorded assists for Quad City were Jeff Lee, Justin Fox, and Benjamin Dieude-Fauvel, who each chipped in one.

The Americans' penalty kill was spotless, allowing no goals on three Quad City power plays. Allen forced Quad City goalie Heemskerk to work between the pipes, taking 31 shots.

The Americans were led by Alex Lavoie, who scored the team's only goal. Lavoie scored on the power play 3:26 into the first period to make the score 1-0 Allen. Allen had gotten the advantage when the Mallards' Matt Boyd was sent off for roughing. Spencer Asuchak assisted on the tally.

Quad City incurred four minutes in penalty time with two minors. Bryan Pitton made 31 saves for the Americans on 33 shots. Allen incurred six minutes in penalty time with three minors.
