Hokies Invited to Inaugural ACHA Fall Faceoff

The West Virginia ACHA D2 hockey team won their senior night game against California university of Pennsylvania, defeating the Vulcans 4-1.
Seniors Isiaih Forsyth, Alex Delaney, Nicholas Mohardt, Ben Murphy, Patrick Brown, Chace Shepard, John Sabol, Michael Mackey, Nick Lane were honored in a ceremony before the game.
And it didn’t take long for a senior to contribute, as just three minutes and 42 seconds into the game, Alex Delaney assisted Mason Smith to put the Mountaineers up 1-0.
However, the Vulcans equalized just a minute and 59 seconds later.
Another senior assist put WVU back in front, as with 3:16 left in the first period Forsyth combined with Mark Stankiewiicz to assist Mitchell Ducalo to make it 2-1.
Stankiewiicz added to the West Virginia lead four minutes and ten seconds in when Ducalo assisted him, joined on the assist by a third senior in Nicholas Mohardt.
Ducalo assisted Stankiewiicz again with 14:31 left in the third period, with Caleb Karnell also getting an assist.
The Mountaineers finish up their regular season next weekend, as they’ll take on the Cincinnati Bearcats on Feb. 10/11 at Sports Plus in Cincinnati, Ohio. The Friday game starts at 9 p.m, with a 1 p.m. start Saturday.
