For over seventy years the Brantford Minor Baseball Association has not only fostered a love for baseball in our town, but it has also built a community. For decades we have tirelessly worked to teach more than throwing mechanics and batting fundamentals, we’ve worked to build up the next generation, on and off of the field. Something we’ve never done, however, is dedicate ourselves to creating an opportunity specifically for girls to learn and grow and love our game too. In many senses we have failed in this respect. Certainly our doors have always been open for girls to join our teams, but in not creating a program specifically for female baseball players, we have continued to be an organization of predominantly male baseball players, coaches, and umpires.

We have the opportunity now to correct that, we have the opportunity to encourage girls to play the game we hold so dear who otherwise may not have even considered trying. We hope that we will be able significantly grow our community through this endeavor, and in doing so better serve our families, our players, and Brantford as a whole.

With this grant provided by Jump Start we will be able to open the doors to a generation of baseball players that we simply have not adequately served. We will be able to share our love of the game, and create an environment where girls from all over Southern Ontario can come to learn, grow and compete. This is just the beginning of something truly great for baseball in Brantford, for our organization, and for our city.
