The Northern Colorado Eagles are proud to announce that Eagles goaltender, Marshall Murphy, has committed to Saint Michael's College NCAA hockey program for the 2020-2021 season.

The experienced netminder has spent the past two seasons with the Eagles organization. The Little Canada, Minnesota native is coming off his best season of junior hockey, hitting career highs in all categories. In 41 games played, Murphy collected 27 wins , 11 losses and 3 overtime losses. Murphy led the WSHL in most games played, as well as most wins in a season, with a career high 0.918 save percentage. Murphy placed second in the WSHL in shutouts, earning 6 for a career best in the goaltender position.

"Eagles family, I am so thankful for the time I 've spent and the opportunity you have given me to play for you the past few years. My experience has exceeded all the hopes and expectations I had for junior hockey. It didn't end the way we wanted it to (due to the COVID-19 pandemic) but I wouldn't change a thing. A big thank you to all those who have helped this organization along the way, and for showing continued support. Thanks for helping us pursue our dreams of playing at the next level. I'm so excited for the future of this organization and I can't wait to watch the Thorne cup come home to Northern Colorado. I'll be watching." said Murphy, thanking everyone for his time spent in Colorado.

The veteran goalie played 109 games in WSHL over three seasons, leaving his mark on the league and solidifying his name in the record books. Murphy earned the title of most all-time saves in the WSHL with 3,373. As he enters into the next level of NCAA, Murphy finishes his junior hockey career with a 59-45-5 record along with a cumulative 0.910 save percentage, 8 shutouts, 6 assists, and 4 penalty minutes.

"Marshall has been a warrior in the net the past two seasons. His work ethic, attention to detail, drive and commitment each day to being the best version of himself sets him apart from most goalies. His preparation and accountability are his hallmark characteristics; Marshall is a student of the game and cares about everyone he crosses paths with. Marshall is ultra competitive, which will give him the edge come time to compete for ice time as a freshman. All these intangibles that Marshall has will help achieve any goal he sets his mind to. I know he will be successful at anything he puts his heart into. Myself and the organization would like to thank him for all his hard work on and off the ice, as well as in the community. We wish him all the best in his next chapter," said Head Coach and GM Steve Haddon.

Murphy is the 3rd college commitment of the off-season. Stay tuned for more NCAA/CIS/ACAC/BICHL commitments and player signings as the off-season heats up.

The organization has a lot of work to do to be ready for September.  If any new sponsors, restaurants, local businesses, billet families or volunteers in the Greeley, Eaton and surrounding areas are interested in joining the Northern Colorado Eagles family, please contact us via the email addresses below.
