GLANBROOK WINS 2018 BLOOMFIELD CHAMPIONSHIP

Date:  Source: PJHL

The Glanbrook Rangers are the 2018 PJHL Bloomfield Division Champions after coming from behind in their series against the perennial powerhouse Grimsby Peach Kings to win in seven exciting games. Grimsby won three of the first four games, including a wild overtime win in game four, but the Rangers dug deep to win the final three games, including game seven 3-2 on Sunday night.

This was the third straight year that these two teams have met in the Division/League Championship series and this is the first time Glanbrook has come out on top as Grimsby has dominated the Bloomfield Division (previously the Niagara & District Junior C Hockey League - NDJCHL) for years. This is the first time in 15 years that the Peach Kings have failed to reach the OHA Schmalz Cup Quarterfinals. This is the first PJHL Bloomfield Division (or NDJCHL) Championship for the Glanbrook Rangers since 1999; the last year the Rangers won the OHA Schmalz Cup.

The Glanbrook Rangers now advance to the PJHL South Conference Championship against the Tavistock Braves, Champions of the Doherty Division.  The winner of the South Championship will move on to the OHA Schmalz Cup Semifinals against the Champions from the West Conference, either the Lakeshore Canadiens or Lambeth Lancers.
