2017-18 ACHA Women's D2 Rankings #2

Date:  Source: College Hockey East

The second set of rankings for the 2017-18 season in ACHA Women's Division 2 were released on December 7th, and College Hockey East again proved itself to be a hotbed of national-title contenders.  For the second-straight rankings, CHE teams took 5 of the Top 10 spots in the East.  Yet as an eye-popping improvement over the last rankings, those teams took a stranglehold of the Top 4 spots.

Delaware moved up one place to secure the top spot in the East.  The only team to have beaten the Blue Hens this season follows them, as the Liberty Flames slot into the #2 position.  Despite remaining undefeated, Buffalo fell from #1 to #3 in these rankings, but the Bulls are certainly still among the favorites in the National Championship picture.  Navy dropped a single spot to #4 to complete the CHE sweep of the East's Top 4.

Pittsburgh remains inside the Top 10 again this period, holding even at #9.  The Panthers have four games remaining with Buffalo, as well as two with California, to help their mission of cracking the Top 6 by season's end.

The ACHA Women's Division 2 rankings are compiled via a combination of computer rankings and a rankings committee.  The third of four rankings period will conclude on January 28th, and the final rankings period will include games played through February 25, 2018. The Top 6 seeds in the East from the final rankings will earn a trip to the ACHA Women's Division 2 National Tournament in March in Columbus, OH.
