USF Clinches Nationals Bid

Date:  Source: Southern Collegiate Hockey Conference

The University of South Florida Bulls won out the regional tournament this past weekend with wins against #5 University of South Carolina and #7 Liberty University.  They will enter the National Tournament in Columbus Ohio representing the South Region at the #4 seed.

The USF Bulls started off the 2017 season with a shaky start, starting with a 1-10 record.  The team started to turn around with the late season addition of freshman goaltender, Sam Coleman.  Coleman has recorded two shutouts this season, and has a GAA of 3.81. Along with strong net presence, the Bulls credit a lot of their mid-season success to their new arena.  When the Bulls had their first home game at the newly built Florida Hospital Center Ice in Wesley Chapel, they set an attendance record of nearly 700 fans that came out to watch them take on The University of Florida Gators.  The Bulls will be entering Nationals riding on a hot streak, compiling six wins in their last seven games (all of which played at the Florida Hospital Center Ice).

USF will now join both FGCU as well as Tampa at the National Tournament on March 14-18.  All three teams will be representing the SCHC as they take on the best in the country.  The schedule for the SCHC members is as follows:
