Zarrillo rejoins the Somerset Patriots after spending time with the team during the 2015 season. He played in 23 games for Somerset and finished with 17 hits, two doubles and five RBI before being traded to the New Jersey Jackals of the Can-Am League.
With New Jersey, Zarrillo hit .294 with 32 hits, seven doubles and 13 RBI in 29 games played.
Zarrillo played his college ball at Rutgers University and finished his career with a .304 batting average, 109 runs scored, 227 hits, 40 doubles, seven triples, and 114 RBI in 208 games played.
In 2015 while still at Rutgers, Zarrillo hit .294 with 32 runs scored, 65 hits, 12 doubles, and 25 RBI as a starter in all 55 games played. He led the team in plate appearances and at-bats, and finished second on the team in batting average, hits and doubles.
In his sophomore and junior years, he hit .330 and .328, respectively. In his sophomore year, he won the BIG EAST batting title by hitting .407 in regular season league games.
Zarrillo was Third Team All-American Athletic Conference, American Athletic Conference All-Tournament Team, and NJCBA First Team All-State in 2014.
He was also a member 2013-14 American Athletic Conference All-Academic Team, 2013 NJCBA First Team All-State and 2012-13 Big East All-Academic Team.
Prior to playing at Rutgers, where he majored in Communication, Zarrillo lettered three years at Lacey High School in Ocean County.
