After a successful professional career serving as a player, player coach, and hitting coach, Jeremy Owens was named the fifth field manager in Southern Maryland Blue Crabs franchise history.  Owens takes over for Stan Cliburn who guided Southern Maryland to the Atlantic League Championship series last season.


 Under Owens control, Blue Crabs hitters finished with the third highest batting average (.263), hits (1,233), and doubles (229), while finishing with the most amount of triples (48), and sacrifice flies (47). 


Since joining Southern Maryland in 2008, Owens went on to hit 105 career homeruns as a Blue Crab.  Including his time with the Blue Crabs and brief stint with Somerset, Jeremy finished in the top 10 in numerous statistical catagories including games played (865), at bats (3,063), runs scored (516), hits (756), doubles (158), homeruns (129), and runs batted in (417).


Owens professional career began in 1998 after he was selected by the San Diego Padres in the 8th round of the 1998 MLB Amateur Draft out of Middle Tennessee State. 


Jeremy currently resides in Jonesboro, Tennessee with his wife Wendy, and two sons Lucas (12), and Josh (9).  In the offseason, Jeremy enjoys taking his two sons fishing, and turkey hunting.  Owens also gives baseball lessons, and helps a good friend with handling his local landscape business.
