Pat Flury has been hired by the Nevada Big Horns to be their on-field manager for the 2015 summer collegiate baseball season. Flury brings with him a storied career as a player and a wealth of knowledge as a coach.

Flury played his prep baseball locally at Reed High School and then spent one year at UNLV before moving on to the College of Southern Idaho. He was drafted in the 63rd of the MLB Draft by the Texas Rangers following high school in 1991 but chose not to sign and two years later was selected in the seventh round by the Kansas City Royals in 1993.

Professionally he pitched 12 years in the minor leagues in the Kansas City, Boston, Cincinnati, Florida, Montreal, New York Yankees and San Diego organizations. His career mark was 41-31 with 68 saves and a 3.55 ERA. Eight seasons he pitched at the triple A level and went 11-9 with 15 saves. He holds the minor league record with 14 saves in a month set in July 1999. In 1999 he recorded 21 saves and was recognized as one of the top minor league relief pitchers earning Rolaids Relief Pitcher of the Year honors. In 2002 he pitched for the Nippon Ham Fighters of the Japan League.

Following his professional career he became the pitching coach at University of Nevada-Reno during the 2010-2013 seasons.

Flury currently resides in Reno, Nevada and is the owner of his baseball academy that works with athletes throughout the area.
