Bono comes to Newport after finishing his first season with the Broncos of Santa Clara. The righty hurler saw minimal action out of the Broncos bullpen, only recording three innings pitched over six appearances in 2015. While his time on the mound may have been short, his presence was anything but small, as he stymied hitters with just a .167 average against him.

“Michael is an extremely good athlete that is a prospect both as a pitcher and a hitter,” said Broncos skipper Gabe Ribas. “He has been up to 94 miles per hour with his fastball and is a very good player in all aspects of the game, who will have a chance to compete for us right away as a pitcher and third baseman.”

Drafted out of high school by the St. Louis Cardinals, Bono enjoyed a high school career that took him around the world. In 2011 and 2012 he traveled to Australia and Japan to compete with the Fresno USA team.
