Marceaux is a former top prospect, after being picked in the first round of the 2005 draft by the Florida Marlins.  Jacob spent four seasons in the Marlins organization, pitching as a starter in 2005 and 2006 before trying his hand as a reliever in 2007 and 2008.  He reached the Class AA level for the Marlins in 2008, but sat out almost all of 2009 with an injury before making a late-season Class AA appearance in the Chicago White Sox organization.  In 2010, Marceaux moved to the independent ranks, pitching in both the Atlantic League and the Northern League before the Saltdogs signed him in July.
