Zach is a Kentucky native who was accepted to the University of Louisville.
Lucas was born in Louisville and played his high school ball at Butler High School.  He played baseball and football in high school, lettering for 3 years as a Butler quarterback.  On the baseball diamond, Zach was a First Team All-State Selection both in 2010 and 2011.  2011 was his best season, when he hit 450 with 11 HR, 36 RBI, 25 R and 10 stolen bases while leading Butler to the state tournament.  In that 2011 season, Zach was also named Region 6 Player of the Year and the 2011 Gatorade Kentucky Player of the Year.
He was accepted at Louisville where he immediately started playing as a freshman.  He appeared in 46 games, starting 43 of those games.  He hit 259 with 14 doubles.  He improved his next season, hitting 283.
Lucas was an easy choice for manager Chris Cates, as a versatile athlete who plays a strong defensive second base and can do a lot of things well on the baseball field.
