David McDaniel begins his second season with the Skeeters after five seasons as an assistant coach with Fort Bend Christian Academy in Texas. McDaniel helped the FBCA Eagles to the 2013 TAPPS 4A State Championship title while also assisting the Skeeters in an unofficial role. As a player, McDaniel played through Double-A and was drafted between Gary Carter and Dennis Eckersly. After his playing career, the Houston native stayed with the game of baseball, becoming a pitching coach and eventually a manager in the minor leagues. Working his way up the ranks, McDaniel rose as high as the Director of Scouting for the Mariners, Indians, Tigers and Cardinals and also served as the Director of Player Development for Seattle, Cleveland and Detroit
McDaniel previously served as a bullpen catcher within the Cleveland Indians (2001), Detroit Tigers (2002) and Texas Rangers (2003-05) organizations. A former standout at Episcopal High School and Houston Baptist, McDaniel has more than 20 years of coaching and instructor experience and 11 years of experience in the Atlantic League, assisting the Road Warriors, Long Island, Somerset, Bridgeport and Camden in his career. |
