Sanford, Maine native Tyler Hanson joins the Sanford Mariners bench after serving as an assistant coach on the Bates College Bobcats baseball staff in 2010. Hanson played all four years at UMaine-Farmington, guiding the Beavers to two playoff appearances. Hanson was a team captain and North Atlantic All Conference player as both a junior and senior. Over 105 starts at catcher in his college career, Hanson hit .300, committed only 10 errors and recorded more walks than strikeouts. During his summer in college, he played in for the D.C. Grays in the Clark Griffith League, leading the league in runners thrown out. He also played for the Protocol Stars of the Atlantic Baseball Confederation in New Jersey, helping the team win the regular season championship. He has worked camps in the summer at the University of Maine, University of Hartford and the Top 96 Showcase. |
