Dwelly played for John Seed while in high school and won a total of five letters: two in baseball, two in football, and one in basketball.

Bay Sox General Manager Kirk Fredriksson said, “Drew’s a guy who came to us from Barry University and he’s also from New Bedford, which is a bonus for us.  We’re hoping he’ll be one of our best hitters and play the outfield well.  We’re looking forward to him having a great summer.”

Before transferring to Barry, Dwelly played in 15 games for Franklin Pierce in 2007.  As a sophomore in 2009, he played in 36 games with 10 starts for the Bucs.  Dwelly hit .222 for the season with one home run and two doubles.  He also posted a perfect 1.000 fielding percentage.

“Drew had an outstanding season at Barry this year.  He played the game the way any coach would want.  He’s very aggressive and hit in the number two hole for us.  He also led the team in stolen bases,” said Barry University Head Coach Marc Pavao.

“Drew took a giant leap from his sophomore season when he first came to Barry.  Out of high school he was an infielder, and he’s done a tremendous job transitioning from that position.  Everything he’s accomplished is really to his credit.  He’s a tough player and he works very hard.”
