Matt Petty put together a terrific season in his first year at Barry University after completing a stellar career at Pasco-Hernando Community College. He’ll be joined in North Adams this summer by fellow Barry University Buccaneer Chris Leon.

Petty hit a team-high .379 in 2010 with nine home runs and 55 RBI. He posted an OPS of 1.084 and also stole 10 bases in 12 attempts. After beginning the season at second base, Petty returned to his natural position of third base and went on to be named to the All-Sunshine State Conference Second Team.

In his final season at Pasco-Hernando CC in 2009, Petty hit .403 with 54 RBI and earned a spot on the all-conference first team and the all-state second team. Petty currently holds the Pasco-Hernando CC school record for hits in a season with 81.
