Chris was selected in the 14th round of the 2014 MLB draft by the St. Louis Cardinals as the 435th overall pick. However, he will play at the University of Oklahoma in 2014-15 instead of turning pro.
He had an outstanding sophomore season at Midland in 2014, as he was named a WJCAC first-team all-star and a NJCAA Region 5 first-team all-star while leading Midland to the JC Division I World Series. He hit .384 (71-185), with 22 doubles, 12 homers and 57 RBIs.
Chris hit .380 (68-179) as a freshman at Midland, with 22 doubles, three triples, 11 homers and 64 RBIs in 55 games, with a .721 slugging percentage and a .484 on-base percentage. He was a Western Junior College Athletic Conference first-team all-star.
He then played for the Okotoks Dawgs, an Okotoks, Alberta-based franchise in the Western Major Baseball League last summer and hit .309 (25-81) in 24 games, with a homer and 14 RBIs. He was selected by Milwaukee in the 38th round of the 2012 MLB draft, but did not sign.
Chris is a native of Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada, and attended Okotoks Academy before enrolling at Midland.
