SPRING 2014:  Sam appeared in 12 games for the Westmont Warriors for 16.2 innings pitched in relief.  He struck out 21, walked 11 and gave up only 5 earned runs for a season 2.70 ERA and a 1-1 record.  The Warriors ended their season with a program best record of 39-19, and the program’s first appearance and first win in National Tournament play.  In that game Sam pitched the final four and one-third scoreless innings and picked up the win.  He allowed just four hits and struck out four.

SUMMER 2013: Sam played summer ball for the San Diego Sklz and pitched 17 innings with 23 strikeouts. 

SPRING 2013: Sam sustained a major elbow injury in the fall that limited playing time to 4 innings in the spring. 

HIGH SCHOOL (2012):  Freshman year and senior year Sam made first team all-league.

PERSONAL:  Sam has lived in San Diego his entire life.  He has a younger sister and younger brother and a Labrador retriever named Chief and enjoys following the Padres, Chargers, and Clippers.  He is studying kinesiology and plans to go into research in the field of biomechanics.   His favorite dessert is banana cream pie, favorite TV show is The Office and his favorite movie is Saving Private Ryan.
