In 2012, Nolan was drafted by the San Francisco Giants in the 38th round of the MLB Amateur Draft, but decided to go to school at Wagner College instead and through one season--of baseball and basketball for the Seahawks--that decision is looking like a smart one. Long led all starters with a 2.98 ERA while holding opposing hitters to a .180 batting average, and striking out 33 over 42 ⅓ innings of work. Ranked the NEC’s #2 prospect by Baseball America before the season, Nolan earned conference Rookie of the Week honors during the final weekend of the regular season after shutting out Bryant College over five innings of two-hit baseball.
