In his senior season in 2013, Echavia was the catalyst for an underdog Amador Valley team that won the NCS Championship with an impressive run in the playoffs (including a victory against the #2 ranked team in the country). His team finished the year 18-10 and was the #12 ranked team in the state of California & the #38 ranked team in the US according to MaxPreps.
On the mound, Echavia had 16 appearances (12 starts) for the Dons where he was 7-3 with a ERA of 2.81 in the EBAL, one of the toughest leagues in the state of California. In 67 innings, he struck out 53 and only gave up 27 earned runs. At the plate, Echavia batted .409 with 38 hits, 19 RBIs and 19 runs scored.
Echavia was selected as a 1st Team All East Bay Athletic League (EBAL) Utility player. He was also selected by the Alameda Newspaper Group as a 2nd Team All East Bay performer. He will pitch and play corner outfield for the Merchants.
