Torbert made a tremendous impact with Sioux Falls when he arrived for the 2008 season. He earned league MVP honors for being near the top of every offensive statistical category and helping lead the franchise to its first league championship. Torbert batted .346 last year with the club, fifth best in franchise history. A career .303 hitter, Torbert broke in with the Houston Astros organization in 2004 and reached the Class AAA level in 2007.
