Kyle Helisek is a sophomore left-handed pitcher for the Villanova University Wildcats. In his second season with the ‘Cats the lefty earned a starting spot in which he went 3-7 with a 4.23 ERA in 13 games. Through his 76.2 innings pitched Helisek allowed 36 earned runs on 87 hits, walking 27 and striking out 40. He led the ‘Nova staff in starts and finished first or second on the staff in five statistical categories, including batting average against (.287), fewest earned runs allowed (36), and innings pitched (76.2). In his first collegiate season, Helisek appeared in 14 games with eight starts, going 4-1 with a 5.55 ERA in 58.1 innings. Ranked second on the team in wins and ERA. Native of Cranberry Township, Pennsylvania, Helisek was a three-year letter winner, compiling a 13-1 record over his final two seasons at Seneca Valley High School. Joins Wildcat teammate Marlon Calbi on the Sanford Mainers this summer.
