Alex Caravella is a freshman left-handed pitcher for the University of Pittsburgh Panthers. In his first year for Pitt, Caravella worked primarily out of the bullpen notching a 2-1 record with a 4.53 ERA, second-best in the bullpen. The lefty recorded 32 strikeouts over 51.2 innings in 16 appearances for the Panthers, while walking only 14. Native of Harrington Park, New Jersey, Caravella led his Northern Valley High School team to the Group 3 state championship his junior year and state sectionals his senior year. The lefty made All-County, All-Group 3, and All-League teams his sophomore, junior, and senior year. Notched 92 strikeouts during his HS career. Majoring in Education. Joins Panther teammate Lucas Ellex on the Sanford Mainers this summer.
