Overcash appeared in 19 games last season, making six starts for the Wildcats.  He threw 41.1 innings, striking out 24 batters and walking 13. Overcash made his first career start against Yale on March 11 (4.1 IP, 2R, 4K).  He later earned his first win on April 26 against UNC Greensboro, tossing two innings of relief, allowing one run on one hit and striking out one.  On May 5, Overcash tossed a season-high of six innings against Duke, allowing just one run on six hits while striking out three, but did not factor into decision in the Wildcats’ 3-2 win. “Ryan’s a great kid, and throws pretty hard,” said Bay Sox General Manager Kirk Fredriksson, “He can throw a few different pitches for strikes, and we’re looking for big things from him this summer.” Previously attending Northwest Cabarrus, Overcash was a four-year letter-winner.  He made All-Conference in 2006, 2007 and 2008, and was also named Most Valuable Player for Northwest for all three of those seasons.  Overcash was a four-time scholar athlete and went 9-1 with 96 strikeouts in his senior season.
