Joining the Bay Sox from the University of Washington is Caleb Brown, a 6’2”, 220-pound outfielder who was selected by the Boston Red Sox in the 42nd round of the 2008 draft.Last year as a freshman, Brown started 31 games (22 of which were the Huskies’ 27 Pac-10 Conference games) all at centerfield.  In his first conference at bat on March 27, he had a two-run, pinch-hit homer at Stanford.  On April 7 at Gonzaga, Brown went 2-for-2 with an RBI and four runs scored in the Huskies’ win.  He then went 4-for-5 in a 6-5 win over Portland on April 21.  Brown ended the season batting .279 with 31 hits and 14 RBIs.Prior to UW, Brown attended Central Kitsap High School, where he earned three letters and captained the team as a senior.  He was one of three outfielders named to the 4A All-State first-team in his senior year, and played in the state all-star game after his senior year.  As a senior, Brown hit .507 with 5 homers and 33 RBIs. Brown also played summer ball for the Kitsap (Wash.) BlueJackets.  Baseball America named him the no. 7 prospect in the West Coast League and listed him as the best athlete in the league.
