After his Freshman year at Fordham, Rich made the most appearances on the staff in 22 games.  In 44 innings pitched Rich struck 37 hitters and had a .242 average against. 

A three-year varsity athlete at St. Joseph Regional High School, Rich posted a 9-1 record and with a 1.34 ERA with 61 strikeouts and only 15 walks in 61 innings pitched.  He threw a complete game three-hit shutout at the County Championship in 2009 to give St. Joseph's the win.  Rich was named First Team All-County, Second Team Non-Public A and Honorable Mention Player of the Year.  He finished out his high school career with a 14-2 record along with nine saves.  He also played summer ball for the NJ Twins, where he started 15 games, going 13-1 with 101 strikeouts in 90 innings with a 0.93 ERA.  A Multi-sport athlete also played two years varsity basketball and was a member of the National Honor Society and Spanish National Honor Society.
