Before Stony Brook, Willie played four years of varsity baseball at Hempstead High. He was a three-time captain, a two-time All-Conference selection and a three-time MVP. Other baseball honors include an All-County pick in his senior year. A multi-sport athlete, Willie was a three-year letter winner in football and track. He was also a three-time captain for his football team as well as a three-time All-Conference football selection. Perhaps most impressive is all-academic selection.
