Right-handed pitcher Wade Townsend joins the AirHogs after spending his past five seasons in the Tampa Rays farm system, reaching as high as Double-A Montgomery where he posted 17 strikeouts in 22.1 innings of work.

In 2009, Townsend pitched for the GCL Devil Rays of the Gulf Coast League, though he appeared in only three games.

A 1st Round draft pick (8th overall) by Tampa Bay in the 2005 amateur entry draft, Townsend played out his collegiate career at Rice University in Houston, TX.
