One of the top relief options for arguably the best Division II program in the Northeast Region, sophomore right-hander Doug Willey joins the SteepleCats as a late acquisition and will look to aid North Adams this summer.
Making 18 appearances out of the bullpen for a Franklin Pierce squad that qualified for the Division II College World Series, Willey was brilliant for the Ravens as a sophomore, picking up four saves and pitching to the tune of a 2.45 ERA over a span of nearly 30 innings of relief. The right-hander yielded just eight earned runs over that span while striking out 21 and walking eight, averaging nearly seven strikeouts per outing.
A three-time All-State selection at Shelburne (N.H.) High School, Willey was a two-time Conference Player of the Year, three-time All-Conference selection and two-time New Hampshire Scholar-Athlete Award recipient.
The son of Lisa and Jeff Willey, Doug has a sister, Alysia, and is pursuing a degree in biology at Franklin Pierce.
