Ruhlman is a key addition to a pitching staff that had the second highest ERA in the league last season. Just 25 years old, the lefty brings with him a career 18-11 record with a 3.43 ERA in 175 appearances, all in relief. Drafted by the Chicago Cubs as a 23rd round pick in 2005, Ruhlman excelled at the Single-A level his first three years, and posted back-to-back seasons with an ERA under 2.90 in 2007 and 2008. Last year, the Michigan native turned in a solid 3.83 ERA and a 2-1 record in 47 games at Double-A Tennessee, and also received the call to Triple-A for the first time in his career, making 12 appearances with Iowa. He has allowed fewer hits than innings pitched in every season of his pro career, holding opponents to only a .249 clip.
