2018 will be Field Manager Ron Biga’s sixth season with the ThunderBolts. This will be Ron's 13th season coaching at the professional level. He was named Field Manager of the ThunderBolts on November 26, 2012 replacing Morgan Burkhart. 

Ron began coaching professionally as an Assistant Coach & Director of Player Procurement for the Sioux City Explorers (American Association) 2006 & 2007 seasons. Ron was then scooped up by the Southern Illinois Miners (Frontier League) for the 2008 season as an Assistant Coach & part of the player procurement staff. Ron helped put together a Miners’ team for three seasons (2008-10) which included three post-season appearances and one division title. Biga would move a little closer to home as he became Vice President, Baseball Operations with the Joliet Slammers (Frontier League) for the 2011 & 2012 seasons. Ron put together a roster that won the 2011 Frontier League Championship in the Slammers’ expansion season. 

Ron was born on November 16, 1967 in Chicago. The local product attended high school at St. Rita on the Southside of Chicago. Ron was a powerhouse for St. Rita representing the Mustangs as an All-State & All-American player. Ron was selected to play on the US Junior National Team after graduating high school in 1985. Biga would play at a colligate level with the Triton College Trojans (NJCAA) and St. Xavier University Cougars (NAIA). Ron would return to Triton College as a coach between 1997-2001. Finally Ron also played and coached for the Prairie Gravel semi-pro team winning National Baseball Congress championships in 1996 as a player and again in 2006 as manager.
