Eric was a sophomore at Mt. Hood Community College in 2012-13. He was 7-1, 2.13 in 11 appearances and had 44 strikeouts in 71.2 innings.

A member of the NWAACC's all-tournament team in 2012, Eric was 5-0 with a 2.20 ERA in 12 games. He was 4-0, 1.69 in his final four games, all starts, with 18 strikeouts and only three walks in 32 innings.

He was a two-time Pacific League all-star at Forest Grove High School and played in the 2011 Reser's All-Star Series.
