Shane Gunderson is currently in his second season as a graduate assistant coach with the Bemidji State University. From 1993-95 he was a member of the University of Minnesota Golden Gopher baseball team where he played first base and catcher. In 1994 he was selected to the All-Big Ten Second-Team for his accomplishments.

In 1995 Gunderson earned All-Big Ten First-Team, Big Ten Player of the Year, Big Ten Tournament Most Valuable Player (MVP) and First-Team All-American honors.

Gunderson was then drafted by the Minnesota Twins in the sixth round of the 1995 draft. He played five season's in the Twins organization before retiring in 2000.

The native of Faribault, Minn. received his bachelor's degree in deaf studies with a minor in coaching from the University of Minnesota in 2007 and is currently pursuing his master's degree in sports studies at BSU.
