A multi-skilled player with good speed and a strong arm, Helmberg makes his Pump Jacks debut this summer.

A sophomore at Marshall University, the Lexington, Kentucky native was recruited as a catcher, but is utilized in many aspects on the diamond. Helmberg appeared in 20 games with 13 starts this past spring for the Thundering Herd, and like his Pump Jacks teammate Blair DeBord was solid behind the plate, making no errors there, the only position player that saw action for Marshall to do so.

Helmberg was named First Team All-State and the 24th best prospect in the state of Kentucky by 9High as well as an honorable mention player by Perfect Game and Rawlings in his senior season at West Jessamine High School, helping his team to a 33-9 overall record.
