Cory enters his 1st season as pitching coach for the Amarillo Sox and 5th season coaching in independent professional baseball. The previous four seasons he coached in the Frontier League, most recently in the 2011 season with the Windy City Thunderbolts. Under his guidance he has seen five pitchers and three catchers get signed by MLB organizations. In the previous four seasons six pitchers have been named all-stars, with pitchers setting single season league records for strikeouts and saves. He also was named pitching coach for the Frontier League All-Star Game in 2010 and 2011. The Lake Villa, Illinois native began his coaching career in 2002 as pitching coach at College of Lake County a junior college in Northern Illinois. He took over as head coach in 2005 guiding his club to a 30-20 record and a sectional championship. During the summers of 2004 and 2005 he served as the pitching coach for the Vermont Mountaineers of the New England Collegiate Baseball League. In 2006 he moved on as pitching coach/recruiting coordinator at University of Maine capturing the conference championship and NCAA regional berth. In the summer of 2007 he was the bench coach for the Anchorage Glacier Pilots prestigious Alaska Baseball League. Cory now makes his off-season home in St. Augustine, Florida. |
